AI-based Pedestrian Detection Powered by Cadence Tensilica Vision DSP

This demonstration shows an example of an AI-based pedestrian detection used for ADAS applications.
The incoming live video images are streamed into the CPU and passed on to the Tensilica Vision P6 quad-core processor cluster for the people detection and tracking. Only one of the four Tensilica Vision P6 cores is needed to process the compute intensive AI algorithm called YOLO (You Only Look Once) in real-time. Video frames including the bounding box around the detected pedestrians are sent from Vision P6 DSP to the HDMI video output. Due to the optimized high-performance, low power computing, the power consumption of the SoC is less than 4 W. Hence the Tensilica DSP is predestined for ADAS and autonomous driving applications.
